Public Health Intern

Birukti Tsige

Hello, my name is Birukti Tsige and I am excited to be interning at WAF this summer! I am a first-generation student at Harvard College, concentrating in Neuroscience with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy.

Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I immigrated to Massachusetts at the age of eight and became involved in my city's politics. I'm a strong advocate that it truly "takes a village" to raise our kids, uplift ourselves, and strengthen our communities. I continue to be passionate about health, local activism, and civic engagement, and thread these themes in my writing.

In the future, I hope to work with low-income communities in order to serve those with mental illnesses. I can’t wait for summer with WAF’s team, and to continue the amazing initiatives they’ve already worked on.
