17th Alake Coronation: WAF facilitates Health Outreach at Iwokun Nla Community for Alake of Egbaland

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo _CFR (Okukenu IV), has offered free medical support to over 300 residents and indigenes of Iwokun Nla community in Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The beneficiaries got the support during a medical outreach, put together by the Alake Adedotun Gbadebo Health Initiative and Wellness Africa Foundation (WAF), a non-profit organisation, as part of activities marking Alake’s 17th coronation ceremony.

During the exercise, the monarch emphasised that healthy living is important for the residents to contribute to the growth of the state and the country at large, adding that it is on that premise that the medical outreach was put together.

He said: “My message to the people is that their medical fitness is very important. So, they have to take good care of their health to ensure that they remain healthy all the time.

“Fourteen years ago, I came here to retrace the steps of my grandfather and I felt a village located on the banks of Ogun River has a lot of potentials. That is why I decided to support them and would keep on supporting them.”

The Programme Director of WAF, Dr. Omotola Akinmolayan, appealed to the state government to intensify efforts in improving the Primary Health Centres in all the 20 local councils, as well as endeavour to make primary health care services accessible and affordable for the grassroots people.

She said: “We want the state government to continue doing the good work as far as healthcare is concerned. We know it is the major thing in the mind of the state and we want them to continue to do the things they are doing and even do more for everyone in Ogun State to enjoy optimal health.”
